Description

A surface mount, 7 way, RV trailer wiring system for 12 Volt systems that upgrades new installations as well as repairs and replacements. RV7 Pro Plug installs rapidly and in most cases without drilling holes in the vehicle’s mounting surface.

  • High quality wire terminals are easily accessed for initial installation or service and connecting to them can be performed after the connector system has been mounted to the vehicle by simply removing a cover.
  • Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), are incorporated into the connector system to provide visual indication of the electrical signals from the towing vehicle.
  • An optional mounting bracket is available for connector system installations not suited for surface mounting.

The 7 way electrical connector is now the most common factory installed trailer connector system on vehicles intended for towing but typically only installed near the hitch on the rear of the vehicle. Pickups hauling campers or towing 5th wheel recreational vehicles often need an extension cable to reach the connector on the rear of the vehicle, many times an additional connector is added inside the pickup box to eliminate the additional cabling and with campers to free up the rear connector for additional towing. Some pickups now come with an additional wiring harness strapped to the frame near the front of the pickup box ready and waiting for that purpose. Pro Plug significantly simplifies the job of, but is not limited to, installing an RV electrical connector on in-the-pickup-bed applications.

The RV7 Pro Plug electrical connector system has

  • low profile (2 3/8″), rectangular (7″ x 3 3/8″),
  • high impact ABS housing with a large flat back mounting surface
  • pre-applied 3M VHB adhesive pad.

Installation is essentially a peal and stick process on a clean dry surface. The wiring compartment cover is easily opened by removing 2 screws, for flexibility of applications, the compartment has 5 possible locations for wires to enter, 2 knockouts in the back of the housing and 3 sidewall plugs that double as a grommet when trimmed. Connecting wires to Pro Plug is simplified by utilizing barrier strip terminals with screws and captive washers that keep stranded wire contained and can accommodate #8 to #20 gauge wire with no additional crimp connectors required, nor are they recommended. The terminals are clearly labeled as to application with an LED indicator for circuit verification adjacent to each terminal except ground. The barrier strip also serves as a convenient location to connect wires for other applications i.e. the flat 4 connector commonly used on boat and utility trailers. After checking for correct tow vehicle electrical signals, reinstall the terminal cover and Pro Plug installation is complete.
